we have conquered the delmarva

Despite a severe lack of sleep, I'm sitting here enjoying a cup of hot chocolate and thinking it's about time for my own tour recap. In true outsmarting simon fashion, we ended the tour with a monster of an overnight drive. At my suggestion, we stopped at a taco bell to "fuel up", and then set out across the Chesapeake bay bridge tunnel and up the peninsula to good old New Jersey. It was strange to see some snow on the ground again, but certainly nice to get back into some familiar territory. I wound up staying awake for the whole night, and things got kind of crazy. And yes, my minor obsession with keeping our windshield clean was duly noticed. It was pretty cool cruising up the turnpike in the morning. Oddly enough, seeing the New York City skyline was the perfect reminder that I was back in New Jersey.

Brian Maguire, he is a maniac. Even after staying awake and knocking out a huge portion of our overnight drive, he gave me a ride back to my place at 9 am, and then continued on his way down the shore. My mom said that I smelled and should take a shower. She was right, but instead I finally got a little bit of rest at about 10 or so. When I finally woke up, I certainly did enjoy taking a hot shower at my leisure, without 10 other dudes needing to use the bathroom.

After a lot of waiting, we returned to a mastered reference of our new CD waiting for us at PJ's place. I've given the stuff a cursory listen, but I really do think it came out amazingly well. I was already very happy with the recording, but this is just better in a way I couldn't have imagined. I hadn't given the stuff a listen in a while, and it was exciting to hear it in it's final form and sounding great.

There was some craziness on this tour, some hanging out, but overall it was an awesome time. It was great traveling and hanging out with everyone from Idea of Beauty and Mark the Machine. I do wish they could have made it up here, so we could show them how we northerners get down, but maybe next time.
