2 corn dogs and 2 cow tales

Well this tour is officially over and at least I'm back home. Maguire is spending the night with his sister in Philly and Greg and PJ are currently en route to their respective residences. I think we are all glad to be home with our familes and friends for the holidays, if only for a week before we head back out again. It's been a while, if not never, that I've posted on this tour, so allow me to recap a bit. Some days, it seemed like we were doing everything but playing shows: driving, attending college graduations, shopping, changing oil, eating mexican food, watching movies, eating waffle house, eating sonny's bbq, eating salads in the parking lot of a Harris Teeter, and flyering for shows. But, despite a few too many days off and a few mishaps, this tour was indeed a lot of fun. Thanks so much to everyone that came out to see us and everyone that helped us. Everyone that helped us out in anyway whatsoever made this tour possible, but I'd like to especially thank the kids in Tampa, everyone in SC, and all our friends who came out to see us tonight in Philly. I should also mention I was challenged to drink 3 super hot ginger ales in just 12 minutes and succeeded. Happy Holidays everyone.

best night ever

so, some wonderful thoughts, but apologies first.

sorry about all of the confusion with the show in florida and not showing up for the show in georgia. plans got a bit messed up and we had to cancel the georgia show. sorry ladies and gents.

on a lighter note, the show at the kids was incredible, and hanging out with greg for two nights was a lot of fun. thanks dude, you're a great guy. papa johns pizza is too expensive, and if it weren't for the garlic sauce, i don't know if i'd buy it.

on with tonight.

we played in mt. pleasant, sc tonight, and it was the most amazing time. the first time we played in the area was at all books with alli with an i and guff. brad set up the show, and some dudes in a band called aslan play. we played down here twice more, both times with aslan, and each time it seemed to get a bit bigger and better. those kids would come up and sing along, and it always made our hearts sing. then tonight happened. we played in this really laid back church with aslan and some other cool bands, to about 200 people, not including the incredibly nice parents/church leaders that were nicer to us than anyone else we've ever met. so anyway, so many kids sang along, screamed their hearts out, jumped up on the mic, and made us play one of the longest sets we've ever played. afterwards we spent a long time just talking to kids and smiling and hugging and eating pizza. best night ever. so, not only was this amazing, but it was incredible response to the last few days of canceled shows and long drives. we were a little down, and this brought everything back up was above and beyond. though, i did get to play 5 hours of spider solitaire last night while hanging out with my best friends and listening to great records. can't complain too much about that. then we spent the night in the van in what was the coldest night we ever completed. greg could see his breath. woke up, brushed our teeth in walmart, and then treated ourselves to a waffle house breakfast. enjoy. a short drive, some christmas shopping, and a few impulse cd purchases later, we were enjoying the above wonder. thanks to brad for bringing us down here in the first place, and to all of the aslan guys for making south carolina what it is to us. and thanks to jt and family for the place to crash. best night ever.

ps...we miss you jersey, be home soon.

no georgia show

hey guys,
so we showed up in tampa last night and walked into the kids skate shop to a confused greg (owner). he said, "hey guys, the show's tomorrow night, right?" basically a series of miscommunications between he and i put us in a position in which we were without a show last night, and two shows tonight, one in tampa, one outside of atlanta. so, basically because we were already here and because we love the kids, we decided it made more sense to stay in tampa and play the show tonight, and try and hop on a show around here tomorrow that greg told us about, then book it up to the show in south carolina. i suppose this is all a bit confusing, we're a bit bummed and confused too, but we had a day off on sunday originally, so if we're able to fill it here tomorrow, then we won't have had any extra days off. but, i feel really crappy that we had to cancel the show in georgia, especially because our buddy aaron is up there, and it's a bummer that we won't see him. maybe we'll stop by to say hello on our way to south carolina. who knows? anyway, again, we're sorry to everyone for the confusion, and to aaron especially. but no show in georgia this time. sorry georgia. well, have a nice day.
love,
pj

congratulations tom with an m

so why is it that every time we end up in north carolina something ridiculous happens? oh yeah.
we played in charlotte and crashed with phillip who hooked up the show and bought us beer and is therefore a thumbs up in my book.
no show today so we planned to impose on ry and tom of the legendary alli with an i. as it turns out tom was in the middle of the last paper of his college career. so we got to raleigh, drank more sparks than is generally advisable, broke stuff, crashed at josh's, then woke up this morning and went to tom's graduation. i guess thats a first for us, graduation ceremony on tour. and there was totally a sweet reception with free cheese and mixed nuts afterwards. mmmmm... so congratulations tom. weeeeeeeeeeeird.
now we're back in brunswick georgia crashing with bird tonight and heading to orlando tomorrow. last time we were here things got a little interesting so i'm curious to see where this night goes. maybe more scared than curious? no probably not.
anyway. thats what we've been up to. perhaps someone else will fill in more details soon soon. but for now, enjoy. treat yourself.

b-more sans b-mac-t

well we're in the baltimore area. the show tonight was a little weird due to an odd mix of bands and a strange stage set up. we're not complainers, but it sucks when you can't put your equipment in a place that seems safe or at least makes sense. we don't have vintage gear or anything extremely expensive or nice, but these are the pieces that allow us to make music, that allow us to travel the country, so we like to use them and make sure they're safe. it wasn't that bad, i'm just a whiner.

anyway, a friend of greg's (heather) came to see us tonight and offered to let us stay at her place. this is usually amazing, but all the more so considering she wasn't going to be there tonight. she was off to atlantic city (ironic, isn't it? jersey/b-more swap...wassup!) so we now have the place to ourselves. we made a nice dinner and ate cookies while watching law and order. the night doesn't get that much better that.

i hope you're all well, make sure you treat each other well, and we'll talk soon. tell your mothers you love them, and drop us a line. we worry. be good and stay safe.

pre-tour post

Hey everyone. The rest of the outsmarting simons and I will be heading back out on the road in a few days, so expect even more nonsensical ramblings than usual. Anyhow, we are playing a "farewell show" this thursday, and if anyone could come by, it would be most appreciated. The other bands are awesome and it's pretty cheap too. After that, we'll head down the east coast, enjoy some warm weather on the gulf coast of florida, head back up, and be with our families and friends for the holidays. Well, all but Maguire who will head right back out on the road again after christmas to harden his core with the mo nig. Then, we'll go back out again with New Brunswick's own Scream Hello. After all, it's about time we stopped being weirdos and started touring with other bands. Until then.
